We share a sailboat
      with friends...
      the "Joint Venture."

We moor it sometimes
      on a reservoir.

Every October
      we're told to move it
      "or else."

They drain the lake
      and lower the water
      to a bare mud flat.

It seems a long time
      from October to April
      when water rises again.

But seasons end
      and reservoirs fall
      only to return
      and rise again.

It's a good thing
      to remember
      in a time of winter.

In mid-winter's dark
      we attend collegiate wrestling...
      for our soul's good.

Two things I especially like...
      escapes and reversals.

In each case
      one is held down...
      but gets away.

Getting away is good
      because an escape
      is worth a point.

But a reversal...
      which gets you on top...
      is worth two points.

It's both psychologically
      and theologically
      supportive.

The System of life
      allows and encourages
      escapes and reversals.

It's something to remember
      when life next dumps you
      onto the mat.
