”When the parents brought in
      the child Jesus
he took him up in his arms.”

Grandparents wouldn't miss
      something as important
      as a naming ceremony.

Such events are reason
      to drop everything
      and travel long miles.

There would be worry
      about proper clothes
      for baby blessing.

And whether that
      old clergyman
      could handle the child.

A holy tremble comes unbidden
      at the though of God
      blessing this special one.

They would make it known...
      humbly, of course...
      whose grandchild this is.

It is the way
      of grandparents.

”And his father and mother
      marvelled at what was said
      about him.”

Don't you think grandparents
      were also overhearing
      the compliments?

Anyone with eyes
      can recognize
      family resemblance.

This special child
      is unique
      among children.

Misty eyes dream
      what he might become
      as their descendant.

And grandparents
      would want to report
      all that was said.

It is the way
      of grandparents.
