"In everything
      there is a season,
      and a time
      for every matter
      under heaven.

A time to be born
      and a time to die;
      a time to plant,
      and a time to pluck up
      what is planted;
      a time to kill,
      and a time to heal;
      a time to break down,
      and a time to build up;
      a time to weep,
      and a time to laugh;
      a time to mourn
      and a time to dance..."

Change is old—
      as old as Ecclesiastes...
      and older.

So nobody should be
      surprised
      when change appears.

But sometimes
      its arrival
      stuns us!

"We all take out turn."

She was speaking folk wisdom
      about trouble.

But when my turn came
      I was surprised.

It seemed so easy...
      just quit my job
      close out a career.

It needed doing
      according to my own
      way of reckoning.

But buttons were touched
      signaling my hidden
      emotional system.

I was in trouble.

In fact
      I was human
      more than I knew.

And for the first time
      I began to understand
      from experience
      what the lady meant.

"We all take our turn."

And hopefully
      I would learn to overcome
      as well as she.
